Sports Premium

The PE and Sport Premium is additional government funding provided to eligible primary schools in England to make additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE, sport and physical activity. The funding is designed to support all primary-aged pupils to develop healthy, active lifestyles and to ensure that children can participate, achieve and thrive through physical activity and sport, regardless of their background or ability.

At SS Peter and Paul we are committed to using our PE and Sport Premium funding effectively to ensure that every child has the opportunity to Learning Together, Achieve Together through high-quality physical education, sport and physical activity. We aim to develop children’s physical skills, confidence, teamwork, resilience and enjoyment of being active, while creating opportunities for pupils to participate in a broad range of sporting and competitive activities.

The Department for Education (DfE) expects schools to use the PE and Sport Premium to develop or enhance the PE, sport and physical activity they provide, while building the knowledge, skills and capacity of staff so that improvements are sustainable. Effective use of the funding focuses on areas including increasing staff confidence and expertise in PE and sport, increasing pupils’ engagement in physical activity, raising the profile of PE and sport across the school, providing broader sporting opportunities, and increasing participation in competitive sport.

At SS Peter and Paul , we are committed to making a lasting difference to our pupils’ physical health, wellbeing, personal development and sporting experiences. Our use of the PE and Sport Premium is carefully planned, evaluated and reported to ensure that the funding has a meaningful impact on participation, provision and outcomes for our children.
