Our Online Safety Curriculum – 2BeSafe

At SS Peter & Paul, keeping our children safe online is a top priority. From September 2025, we are proud to introduce 2BeSafe – Being Safe in a Digital World, a brand-new online safety curriculum from Purple Mash.

2BeSafe is designed to help children learn how to use technology safely, respectfully, and responsibly. It is fully aligned with the government’s Education for a Connected World framework and supports the expectations set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025.

What does 2BeSafe teach?

Across the year, children take part in short, engaging sessions (15–20 minutes) that explore eight important areas of online life:

  • Self-Image and Identity – understanding how we present ourselves online.

  • Online Relationships – building safe, respectful friendships online.

  • Online Reputation – thinking carefully about what we share.

  • Online Bullying – recognising and reporting harmful behaviour.

  • Health, Wellbeing & Lifestyle – finding balance with screen time and gaming.

  • Privacy and Security – keeping personal information safe.

  • Managing Online Information – spotting fake news and thinking critically.

  • Copyright & Ownership – respecting other people’s work online.

How we teach it

2BeSafe is taught regularly from Reception to Year 6 and is linked to our Computing, PSHE/RSE, and RE curriculum, as well as key school events such as Safer Internet Day and Anti-Bullying Week. Sessions are interactive, discussion-based, and give children practical strategies to stay safe and make good choices online.

Why it matters

By using 2BeSafe, we make sure that our pupils leave SS Peter & Paul as confident, responsible, and respectful digital citizens, ready to thrive in an ever-changing online world.
