St Brigid

Brigid was born in Ireland in 450 AD. As a young child Brigid had compassion for the poor, giving away food and clothing and even her father’s possessions to the poor. At the age of 16, she wanted to follow a life of Christ and entered a monastery.  She lived at about the same time as St. Patrick, whose influence inspired her to become Christian.

St Brigid is the patron saint of poets, midwives, and newborn babies.
