Our Intent for PSHE & RSE

Children at SS Peter and Paul will develop the skills to build healthy lives, both emotionally and physically. They will learn the skills to build positive relationships with others so they can contribute positively and safely to the local and wider community. The children will gain a good understanding of our British values and how these shape society.

Implementation of PSHE

PSHE is taught weekly in each year group throughout the school. This learning is shared and celebrated in our class PSHE journals.

Jigsaw PSHE / Health and Well-being provides a detailed and comprehensive scheme of learning for ages 3-16.  Jigsaw makes teachers’ lives easier by providing well-structured, progressive lesson plans with all teaching resources included.

Jigsaw is a unique, spiral, progressive and effective scheme of work, aiming to prepare children/young people for life, helping them really know and value who they are and understand how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world.

The overview for the Jigsaw scheme of work can be downloaded in the links below.

Relationships & Sex Education (RSE)

"I have come that you might have life and have it to the full“ (Jn.10:10)

We are involved in relationships and sex education precisely because of our Christian beliefs about God and about the human person. The belief in the unique dignity of the human person made in the image and likeness of God underpins the approach to all education in a Catholic school. Our approach to RSE therefore is rooted in the Catholic Church’s teaching of the human person and presented in a positive framework of Christian ideals.

At SS Peter and Paul Catholic School, we follow the Catholic RSE programme 'Journey in Love'.

Our RSE policy can be viewed here or below.
